Cancer Care Reviews
Practices are incentivised through QOF to perform a Cancer Care Review for patients newly diagnosed with cancer. These CCRs are hoped to improve patient’s and their family’s understanding of their condition and the support available through the treatment and palliative phases. Unfortunately research has shown that many patients do not gain much benefit from CCRs. Macmillan Cancer Support have developed some tools and training which aims to increase the impact and effectiveness of CCRs.
In 2019 Macmillan will be rolling out training for GPs and nurses who carry out CCRs, this will probably be delivered locally by the newly appointed Macmillan GPs. We will share details with you when this training is confirmed.
Macmillan have also developed a SystemOne template which can be used by clinicians to facilitate the CCR process. There is a YouTube video to guide you how to upload this template if wish to do so, this video is available here . An EMIS template is also in development.
