Flooding - impact of the farming community
We all know that the farming community have a high risk of depressive illnesses and suicide. Recent flooding has significantly increased the pressures that local farming communities are under. Crops spoiled, land made unusable, and property damage may lead to even higher levels of mental ill health in farming communities.
The Lincolnshire Rural Support Network (LSRN) are a volunteer-led organisation that provides pastoral and practical support to farming and rural people during periods of anxiety, stress and problems relating to their families and businesses. If you encounter farmers who may be suffering following the recent flooding you can signpost them to LSRN via website and their helpline number is Helpline 0800 138 1710.
