Indemnity- extended access

With the advent of extended access, and GPs carrying out sessions in EA Hubs, the LMC has been asked to remind all GPs that they should inform their indemnity companies that they are performing these sessions.

Some EA providers have purchased extra indemnity for GPs doing these sessions, and some have not. Whether or not the provider that you are doing sessions for has purchased extra indemnity, all GPs should still inform their own indemnity provider that they are carrying out extra sessions. If you do not, the indemnity provider could refuse to support you if a claim arose.

This principle applies to all clinical work, if you change the amount or type of work that you do, you should always inform your indemnity provider.
