Notification of Death Regulations 2019

In September 2019 the government released new guidance regarding Notification of Death. These guidelines can be found at the Gov.uk website . The main change in the regulations is the requirement for any notification of death to the coroner has to be made in writing. This has little impact in Lincolnshire as we have been making notification to the coroner using the online portal for some time, which is acceptable under the new regulations.

The new regulations also clarify which deaths should and should not be notified to the coroner. We have created a new flow chart with Lincolnshire coroner’s office which summarises this. This flow chart can be found in the attachment above.
