Pharmacy Contract Changes
Pharmacy Contract Changes
There have been some recent changes to the pharmacy contract which will possibly impact GP practices. These changes include
- New Medicines Service
- Pharmacists will offer a medication review to patients who have been started on medications for certain conditions such as: cardiovascular disease, asthma and COPD, diabetes, epilepsy, hypertension, gout, and many more
- Hypertension case-finding service
- Pharmacies are commissioned to carry out hypertension screening and refer patients to their practice if they have hypertension. This is part of the PCN Cardiovascular service.
- Pharmacy quality scheme (PQS)
- Like QOF for practices, pharmacies will receive funding for carrying out various quality improvement projects such as: anticoagulation audit, respiratory checks, flu vaccination, antibiotic reviews, and Covid-19 vaccination.
PSNC has produced a helpful summary of the changes which can be found at PSNC-Briefing-040.21-Briefing-for-general-practice-teams-on-CPCF-changes-2021-22.pdf
