Fracture clinic GP referrals

Practices contacted us to advise they had been told that they could not refer patients directly to fracture clinic.

While most patients who need fracture clinic are referred directly after an A&E presentation, there are cases, such as where a patient sustained a fracture abroad or out of area where the GP practice may wish to refer the patient to fracture clinic.

We have liaised with ULHT and have been advised that practices can refer to the fracture clinic. The consultant will review the referral and arrange appropriate review.

If practices follow this process and receive rejections, please do let us know so we can raise such incidents for review.
