CQRS – QOF 2023/24 – VI001 Indicator Discrepancy [ARCHIVED]

CQRS is aware of an issue with the VI001 indicator and the way in which the QOF points have been calculated by clinical systems for this particular indicator.

Some clinical systems have calculated the QOF points value for the VI001 indicator incorrectly, so whilst the figures (in terms of patient numbers) are the same on both CQRS and clinical systems, CQRS is reporting a lower QOF points value.

The CQRS team have asked for a formal communication to be issued, which they will cascade to practices as soon as they receive it. This will provide more detail around the issue and will confirm that the points calculation on CQRS is correct (so no further action is required).

If your practice has a discrepancy with the VI001 indicator (in terms of the points calculation), they kindly ask that you wait to receive this formal communication before contacting them due to the number of queries which they are currently receiving.

Further update 11/4/2024:

It has been highlighted that there is an error in the NHSE QOF Guidance where at the end of the rationale section a brief sentence incorrectly describes the lower threshold as 86% for VI001, when this should in fact state 89% as stated elsewhere in the document. This was added to the guidance in error and the lower threshold for VI001 as used in the CQRS calculation is 89%. It has been highlighted that a lower threshold value of 86% may have been reflected in the reporting in other systems, which may contribute to a different output to that provided in CQRS.
